TEHRAN -- The managing director of the Vahdat Hall announced that they are planning to establish a puppet museum that will display puppets from around the world.
The museum will be set up at Tehran’s Ferdwosi Hall, a Vahdat Hall affiliate mostly used for puppet shows, Mohammadreza Kargar told the Persian service of ISNA Sunday. He said that the hall needs complete renovation to help reach international standards, adding, “We also mean to add an international museum and a puppet park inside the complex as well.”
“The large numbers of puppets currently being preserved that were purchased several decades ago are in poor condition, while some of these are quite famous in the puppet world. So, I decided to establish the museum giving people a chance to visit the puppets as well,” he explained.
“In the renovation project of the hall, a new location for research works has also been designed so that those who come to watch a play, especially children, can get familiar with the process of this art. Researchers can also make the best use of this section,” he stated.
Kargar went on to say, “The park of the puppets will also be established in the open space of the complex near the hall to create a congenial atmosphere for the children and their parents.”
He expressed hope that the venue will turn into a fully established puppet complex and will become famous in Iran and throughout the world.
Kargar further remarked, “If things go well, the primary steps will be taken in the next few months and hopefully the project will be completed within two years.
Ferdowsi Hall is located on Shahriyar St., at Hafez Ave. across from Vahdat Hall.
